Description:

A traffic awareness seminar was conducted by Shri Janak Raj, the Assistant Sub-Inspector from the Traffic Education Cell, SAS Nagar at Infant Jesus Convent School, Phase XI, Mohali as part of Road Safety Awareness Month from 1st January to 31st January 2025. He was also accompanied by lady constable Ms Khushpreet Kaur


The Seminar aimed to educate the students about the importance of road safety, responsible driving and adherence to traffic laws. Addressing the audience of students of Classes VII, VIII and IX, the staff and helper staff, Shri Janak Raj, highlighted the rising incidents of road accidents and the role of awareness in avoiding such mishaps. He emphasized on the fact that “Road Safety is not just about the rules, but it’s also about valuing life,” while urging everyone to act responsibly. 


The seminar also covered critical areas such as underage driving, the necessity of wearing helmets and seatbelts and also the perils of using mobiles while driving. All those present were also informed about the prohibition of children aged below 18 years of age from driving and the legal repercussions of violating the traffic laws, including hefty fines and imprisonment. Mr Janak Raj also discussed new implementations such as parents’ accountability for allowing minors to drive. 


Stressing upon the fact that “Every choice one makes on the road relects one’s respect for one’s own life as well as the life of the others,” he motivated the students to spread awareness within their families and communities. The management expressed their gratitude and appreciated the initiative of the District Administration, SAS Nagar and appreciated the efforts of Shri Janak Raj, Lady Constable Khushpreet Kaur and the State Transport Commissioner, Chandigarh.
