Conserve My Planet – Session 4 (Green Cop Activity)
On 18 November 2024, an engaging outdoor activity was conducted for Green Ambassadors of classes VI-VIII. This outdoor activity was organized at nearby petrol pump by the resource person from Sharp NGO, Ms Akansha. The primary goal of this activity was to raise awareness among students about carbon emissions, their sources and their impact on the environment. The activity aimed to instill a sense of responsibility in students to contribute towards reducing carbon footprints.
The session began with an introductory talk by resource person, explaining the importance of monitoring carbon emissions and their effects on climate change. The experts demonstrated how to check carbon emission by asking about pollution certificate from different vehicle owner’s coming for filling petrol.
The students were divided into groups, were tasked with measuring emissions of different vehicles at nearby petrol pump. They recorded the data and compared it with standard permissible limits. On the basis of this red and green tags were given to the owners of the vehicles. The collected data was analyzed to identify high-emission vehicles. Students discussed the findings and proposed solutions to reduce emissions, such as promoting public transport, tree plantation, and the use of renewable energy.
